It still shares looks and features with its big brother, the fullsize Titan truck, including suspension design, a sprayin factory bedliner, a factory bed tiedown system and a fully boxed steel frame, but there are a few interesting tweaks for 2006.07:05 AM #2006 Honda Ridgeline Test Drive & ReviewThe Honda Ridgeline is attracting a lot of attention among people looking for a new pickup truck. It's a true truck, it delivers typical Honda quality, and it's the first 4door pickup truck to earn the NHTSA's highest crash test rating. The Ridgeline is definitely worth a look if you're in the market for a new truck.08:15 AM #RETRAX Bed Cover Installation and ReviewI recently installed the RETRAX retractable bed cover on my 1997 Ford F150 SuperCab pickup truck. This step by step look at the installation will give you a pretty good preview of what you can expect when installing this bed cover on your own truck.08:04 AM #2005 GMC Sierra Hybrid Test Drive & ReviewGMC says its Sierra Hybrid truck delivers up to 10 percent improvement in fuel economy while retaining all of the performance and capability owners expect from a fullsize pickup truck. The third generation of Toyota's popular small SUV appears to be more sleek and Toyota says it delivers more power than previous models. Hopefully that extra power won't result in increased gas consumption. We only have a few photos so far, but they offer a pretty good preview of the new RAV4, which looks a lot like a cross between the Toyota Matrix and Highlander.
Beyond Frankfurt
Toyota dealers in the US spent part of last week at the new model intro in Chicago, where they were entertained by Robin Williams, ZZ Top and other celebrities between introductions of new vehicles. Word is that the new fullsize truck due out next year obscures the view of an F150 truck parked on the far side of it.
Attendees liked the new RAV4 and had good feelings about the future of the 2007 FJ Cruiser and the Yaris, a little car that replaces the ECHO in the spring of next year. The Yaris gets somewhere in the 40mpg range for gas consumption.01:50 PM #Jim's 1974 Mini PickupMany of the people who drive today's MINI cars don't have an understanding of the vehicle's history. The new car is made by BMW, but the name, idea and basic styling were derived from a vehicle made in England from the late 1950's through 2000.
The original Minis were built to provide drivers with an alternative to Europe's underpowered, cramped microcars of the 1950s. While they are very small, classic Minis have more power, more legroom and are more comfortable than their vintage counterparts.
Minis were an immediate success and throughout the years different body styles were added to the line, including trucks like the 1974 Mini imported from England by my friend Jim Unrath. Today's MINI cars offer plenty of creature comforts that Jim's little Mini truck doesn't have, but it only takes a glance to see the family resemblance between the two.03:41 PM #2005 SUVs that Are Easy on Your Wallet at the Gas PumpAre you concerned about how much gas that new SUV might use?
