Mercedes-Benz announces the 2008 C-Class

MercedesBenz announces the 2008 CClass Thursday January 18, 2007 MercedesBenz announced today that the redesigned CClass will go on sale in late summer 2007 as a 2008 model, and released official photos. I'm a bit surprised pleasantly so, I might add as I expected the new C to look like a baby EClass. Instead, MercedesBenz has given the new C a more prominent grille and distinctive taillights and side sculpting that really give the car its own unique look. Check out our 2008 MercedesBenz CClass photo gallery and you'll see what I mean. Click the "comments" link below to share your thoughts on the new design. I’ve test drove a few CClass sedans and while they were nice they didn’t communicate like a BMW will. They need a vehicle in this price range to be a hit. The other luxury marguees have past MB by in this segment in style, price, feel and content. January 19, 2007 at 8:57 am(3) dave says: I have owned several MB’s and you can’t beat them. I have test drove BMW’s and there is definitely no comparison to the workmanship but you are getting a decent car for the price. January 19, 2007 at 9:20 am(4) Irloyal says: Styling like a pair of pajamas. When is Mercedes going to give the C class something stylish? Every C class ever built has styling to put you to sleep. The cars are sound and mechanically quite sweet, but the looks…..UGH! January 19, 2007 at 7:56 pm(5) shelly says: I’ve rode and driven all classes of the MB,but nothing can compare to the ultimate driving machine “BMW”, especially if you have a original one built in Germany.I’m feeling a little tense about these beautiful machines now that they are manufacturing them here in America. January 20, 2007 at 9:54 am(6) Tim says: I like the look of the new C. Will it be offered with a Bluetec Diesel powerplant? January 20, 2007 at 12:48 pm(7) Aaron Gold Cars Guide says: No word yet on what engines will be available in the new C. January 20, 2007 at 3:56 pm(8) barb says: Hey Aaron Any scoop on the new CL63 AMG’s. What about the motors, I heard they will not be supercharged but have more HP and less tork???? Mercedes are the BOMB!!! January 20, 2007 at 4:35 pm(9) Aaron Gold says: From the official MercedesBenz press release: “The highperformance CL63 AMG features the first engine developed entirely by AMG – a 6.3liter normally aspirated V8 that produces 518 horsepower and 465 lb.ft. of torque. One of the most powerful naturally aspirated production V8s ever, the handbuilt engine is made almost completely from a highstrength siliconaluminum alloy, with four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, bucket followers (rather than rocker arms) and a variable intake manifold.” The CL is not based on the Cclass; its a bigger car. (You can see a picture of it here; unfortunately I didn’t get a good shot of the CL63 AMG at the Los Angeles show.) The CL63 AMG goes on sale this summer. The CL550 and CL600 went on sale last month. January 20, 2007 at 8:29 pm(10) barb says: I would like to see the CL63 AMG photo if available. I have my name on the list for one January 23, 2007 at 12:15 pm(11) John says: I like the hood and grille especially. Overall, I think it’s a stronger, more distinctive design than recent CClass models, certainly better than BMW, who seemed to have lost their way. January 23, 2007 at 6:06 pm(12) hawaiian don says: ok, call me cheap, but before i discuss a car, i need to know its price…it’s a “bang for tour buck” world out there and just having the ol’ tri star on the hood just ain’t enough anymore. show me under 30k with 200hp, then the “c” is looking beautiful! January 24, 2007 at 9:56 am(13) Steve says: Hi, Is it going to be available in a station wagon body style? I need the room for the dogs, and their cages, food, etc. Steve January 27, 2007 at 11:51 pm(14) David says: I have been wanting a MB for some time. Would love an SL but too pricey. May have to start with the new C Class. 2008 redesign looks like a smaller S Class. Nice touch! MB January 29, 2007 at 4:48 pm(15) jorge says: Is a new design for the CLK being contemplated for 2008 or 2009 following the new looks of the 2008 C class? January 29, 2007 at 5:13 pm(16) Aaron Gold About.com Guide to Cars says: Steve — Still waiting to hear back on the wagon issue — watch this space. Jorge — I think the CLK is based on the E… isn’t it? They’ve got so many letters going, it’s hard to keep their cars straight! February 13, 2007 at 2:26 pm(17) Serge says: I drove almost all MB there are, used to work in a delearship.. I like new C class look and design they are just missing cheap pricing for their cars, mercedes has one isssue: THE COST… The cost drops down after 2 years rapidly and than it really is afordable but not new. If mercedes price their vehicle lower they can really be number one… Wish this new c class have v6 320 cdi engine and 4 matic than I will consider buying it.. But for now I stick with audi… February 22, 2007 at 8:55 pm(18) mercedes parts addict says: Mercedes cars really has gotten the “look” and the performance. Just like they say, the only thing Mercedes Benz is missing is the affordable price. I like the CLs better in looks, btw. February 22, 2007 at 8:59 pm(19) mercedes parts fan says: This car surely has got great looks but I really hope it won’t have problems like the SLR McLaren brakes had. It would really be a pity if the looks won’t go with the performance. Tsk..task… March 4, 2007 at 4:17 pm(20) Jonathan says: What do you guys think will be the BETTER car? BMW 328i or MB 2008 C? Overall please be in depth, thanks. March 5, 2007 at 1:00 am(21) scot says: I would definitely not buy their newer released models (ex: c class – 2008), until there are really proven with their work man ship. This message is out of my experience, I would try BMW. This message is out of my experience, I would try BMW. April 14, 2007 at 5:36 pm(23) Ehsan says: With the new look 2008C looks promising and worth the price. The BMW just can’t seem to get it. I have a 2007 BMW 530i and my brother has a 2007 BMW 750i, and my friend has the 2007 BMW 330i. none of the models seem to work well. the one thing in common in all the three of us, is that we are in the dealership repairing the computer system, and navigation constantly every coupld of weeks or so. Extremely a hassle and not practical. I would definetly go with Mercedes. With the new C, mercedes has improved on its computer technology too, making the computer hassle free. they also have 50,000 miles free of maintenance that means you can drive the car with up to 50,000 miles without ever taking it tot the dealership for maintenance. NOW, THAT’S BEAUTIFUL. April 14, 2007 at 8:34 pm(24) Eric says: Love the looks of the 2008 C class. What happened to the 4 Matic option? It won’t sell in the north with rear wheel drive. April 15, 2007 at 11:59 pm(25) cars says: Ehsan — Free maintenance means you *do* have to go to the dealership; you just don’t have to pay for it. Eric — There will be an allwheeldrive version of the C300. Aaron October 17, 2007 at 2:27 pm(26) Bone says: My wife and I unfortunately agree that the new Cclass looks distressingly like a Chrysler Sebring.
